Cala Comtesa, the lesser-known sister beach to Playa Illetas, offers a peaceful retreat just a short distance from Palma. With its 100-meter stretch of golden sand, surrounded by pine trees and low cliffs, it’s a favorite among locals looking for a quieter spot to relax. You’ll find a small beach café right by the shore, perfect for a refreshing drink after a swim. Easily accessible by bus, Cala Comtesa also offers an adventurous challenge with the nearby Ille de Sa Caleta island, just 200 meters from the beach. Whether you’re here to sunbathe or explore the waters, this hidden gem is the perfect place to escape the crowds.

What: This beach, Cala Comtesa, is the more unknown sister beach to Playa Illetas. This is why a lot of locals come to this beach as well. It is a bit wider than its sister beach, and as nice. It is 100 meters long and surrounded by pine trees and low cliffs where you can rent sun umbrellas. You will find a small beach café, chiringuito, just next to the beach.

Where: Cala Comtesa is located 10 km from Palma and the easiest way to get here is with the local bus number 4. Take the bus to its final stop, Passeig d´Illetes 57, and from there walk 100 meter down towards the ocean. At the crossroads, make a right and you will see the beach. Find it on a map here.

Fun to know: Only 200 meters from the shore is a small island called Ille de Sa Caleta. A challenge for the brave and great swimmer.

We recommend: Take the bus so you don´t have to hassle with the few parking spaces. Do your swimming and sunbathing at Cala Comtesa and have your lunch at Playa Illetas/Balneario. It´s only a couple of hundred meters to walk.
