At Ocho Suites, we love discovering beaches that feel a little more secret, a little more local, the kind of places you stumble upon and instantly want to keep to yourself. Cala Comtesa is exactly that. Tucked between pine trees and low rocky cliffs, this beautiful sandy cove sits just a short ride from Palma, yet it feels worlds away from the city noise.
WHY CALA COMTESA IS ONE OF OUR FAVORITE HIDDEN SPOT
Cala Comtesa is the quieter, lesser-known sister to Playa Illetas, and that’s part of its charm. Locals come here to escape the crowds, lay out a towel on the soft 100-meter stretch of sand, and simply enjoy a slow, sun-soaked day by the sea. I love the calmness here — the way the water stays clear and gentle, the way the trees give pockets of shade, the way you can hear the soft hum of people chatting rather than the chaos of a busy beach.
There’s even a small chiringuito right by the water, perfect for a cold drink after a swim. Nothing fancy — just the kind of simple beach café that makes the day feel easy.
EASY TO REACH, HARD TO LEAVE
One of the best things about Cala Comtesa is how accessible it is. From Palma, just hop on bus number 4 and ride it to the very end; Passeig d’Illetes 57. From there, it’s only a short walk down toward the sea. When you reach the crossroads, turn right and the beach suddenly appears between the cliffs.
If you prefer a bit of adventure, you can even swim the 200 meters out to the small island Ile de Sa Caleta. It’s rocky and wild, only for confident swimmers, but a fun little challenge if the sea is calm.
Whether you come for sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling, or simply a quieter moment in nature, Cala Comtesa is a beautiful reminder that you don’t have to travel far to find a slice of paradise.
WE RECOMMEND
Skip the stress of parking and take the bus, it’s easy and saves time. Enjoy your morning swim and sunbathing at Cala Comtesa, and when hunger strikes, eat at the chiringito by the beach, or walk over to nearby Playa Illetas/Balneario for lunch. It’s just a few minutes away and the perfect way to end a beach day.
