Just 50 meters from Ocho Suites & Kitchen, right on Plaza de la Reina next to the fountain, sits a restaurant we keep coming back to: Ombu Tapas & Cocktails. It’s one of those places where the energy of the city meets playful cooking, and somehow it always hits the spot.

I still remember the first time we sat down at one of their outdoor tables, the buzz of the plaza, the smell of something citrusy from the bar, and that feeling that this was going to be a fun meal. Ombu has around twenty outdoor tables, all squeezed into that lively little corner just beside the bus stop, which honestly adds to the charm. It’s vibrant, it’s busy, it’s city dining in the best possible way.

OMBU - GLOBAL FUSION TAPAS WITH BIG FLAVORS

Ombu is not your classic Spanish tapas bar — and that’s exactly what makes it great. The menu jumps happily between Mediterranean, Asian, Latin American, and even street-food influences, yet somehow everything feels cohesive.

A few dishes we always return to:

  • Burrata — creamy, generous, and beautifully paired with seasonal flavors

  • Tuna fish cornetts — fresh, crunchy, and fun to eat

  • Pad Thai with shrimps — slightly spicy, full of flavor, and a surprising Palma favorite

Every dish comes out looking like it belongs on Instagram, but more importantly, the flavors are bold and memorable.

With each visit, we find ourselves trying something new, and still ordering the old favorites “just in case” they’re even better than we remember.

A BUZZING TERRACE AND A CITY VIBE ALL YEAR ROUND

Ombu is almost always full, summer, winter, weekdays and weekends, which tells you something. There’s a pulse here that never really slows down. People passing by, locals meeting for after-work cocktails, tourists discovering pintxos for the first time… the terrace becomes its own little universe.

If you enjoy people-watching, this is the place. If you enjoy cocktails, this is also the place.Their mixology team takes drinks seriously. Think fresh ingredients, colorful presentations, and a menu that pairs perfectly with the tapas.

A NOTE ON BOOKING

Ombu fills up fast. Truly fast. If you want a guaranteed seat, make a reservation, especially if you prefer sitting outside. Walk-ins are possible, but you might have to wait — sometimes quite a bit. But honestly, the atmosphere around Plaza de la Reina makes waiting feel like part of the experience.

WE RECOMMEND

Start with the tuna cornetts and burrata, then add the Pad Thai with shrimps (a must). If you’re in the mood for a drink, try one of their signature cocktails — the bartenders know what they’re doing. And sit outside if you can; Ombu is best enjoyed with the city just a few steps away.
